Tamil Nadu-born cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been part of the Indian team since 2004. As a result he has played under the captaincy of various captains.

The most notable of them were MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Karthik himself has captained his state team for a long time. He is also the skipper of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

Having played under all the three captains, Karthik is the ideal person to know the difference in the captaincy. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, DK revealed the difference.

While talking about Dhoni, the wicketkeeper-batsman said that MSD is instinctive in nature. In addition to that he has taken many decisions which turned out to be match-turning on the field.

While talking about current Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Karthik said that Kohli is aggressive and loves to take on the opposition. He highly praised Virat for raising the bar in every game he plays.

“MS is very instinctive as a skipper. He takes a lot of decisions on the field in the spur of the moment. Virat on the other hand, is very aggressive, likes to take on the opposition. He is immensely self-confident and has consistently kept raising the bar, as a batter and a leader,” said Karthik.

Karthik also shared his experience while playing under stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai-born cricketer recently led India to Asia Cup victory. Karthik vouched for Rohit when it comes to strategy. He also said that Rohit comes to the game only after doing his homework.

“And then there is Rohit. He always does his homework, is very strategic, very hands-on. Keeps going and speaking with his bowlers, has a word with the batters too. He is very thorough in his approach as a captain,” revealed Karthik.

The Men in Blue will next face the Aussies at home in limited overs series. Unfortunately Karthik has been dropped from the ODI team but is selected in the T20I squad. DK would now look forward to a strong IPL season to vouch his name for the World Cup squad.
