As per the sources and Cricket Buzz is concerned the great finisher of all time MS Dhoni has faced some sort of Critics’ as he is failing to perform in the likes of what he has been doing in the past , and since he is not in his usual flow people have started commenting on his batting ability

KL Rahul the frontline batsman of the Indian Cricket Team has said that MS Dhoni is and always will be a match winning player for the side, he has played shots to perfection and the quality he has is just unspoken

The 25-year-old also defended playing the shot that led to his dismissal in the 15th over of the innings. Rahul went for a slog off Thisara Perera before missing it completely to get cleaned up. “It wasn’t a pre-meditated shot but we have to step up once you go to the 15th over and there are only five more overs to go, so I had to accelerate and I was the set batsman, so I had to take some chances,” Rahul pointed out. “Unfortunately, it was the wrong shot and next time when I play that shot it might go for a six. It was the last half of the innings, you need to take some risk, sometimes it comes off, it didn’t come off this time.

Having struggled in T20s in the initial stage of his career, Rahul has since turned his fortunes around and been very productive in the shortest format. The Karnataka batsman did admit that it took him a long time to realise that he can be successful in this format by sticking to his natural game. “It took me a long time to realise that I need to stay true to my game,” Rahul observed. “The times I’ve been successful is when I have kept things simple, when I’ve played cricketing shots that I believe I’ve been blessed with or good at playing.

“It did take me a long time but once I realised that with my game I can still be successful in T20 cricket.. I think every player needs one or two innings to get that confidence in whatever format he is playing to realise that he is good enough to be successful in whatever condition or whatever format he is playing. Once I got that going, I worked harder and tried to be more consistent. I think that’s the key for a player to realise what his best game is to be successful at whatever format.”

Rahul also conceded that it isn’t easy for a middle-order batsman to come in straightaway and start scoring runs in the 50-over format. In what’s been a recent trend, India’s top three have been doing the bulk of the scoring in ODI cricket. Rahul, who has been opening in Tests and T20Is, found himself at No.4 in Sri Lanka but struggled to adapt to different match situations before eventually losing his spot in the XI and then in the squad as well.

“It’s not a bad thing that the top three is scoring runs for any team but yes I think in the last three or four series, the middle order and the lower order have also contributed a lot and that’s why I think we have been successful and winning so consistently,” Rahul observed. “For a middle-order batsman, when he walks in, it’s not the easiest, you need to get on with the game as soon as you can. You need to maintain a certain strike rate so it can’t be easy but that’s how the sport is, it’s not easy for anybody batting anywhere.

“Once, you get a couple of good knocks in whatever position you are playing and if you are in good form, then you just continue that. Each player comes to a realisation on what is best for him and what is the best way for him to be successful and once they get that, then it’s only upwards,” he added.
