Manchester City Star Player to Remain Sidelined Due To Knee Injury

Manchester City’s influential midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has picked up a knee injury and according to reports he may remain on the sidelines for a lengthy spell.

Football news: The influential player picked up the injury during training on Wednesday

Having sustained the injury during training on Wednesday, De Bruyne is already on crutches. He will now be assessed in the coming days but sources close to the player suggests he will be out of action for nearly two to three months.

The player now waits for more accurate diagnosis later this week but primary reports suggest he has injured the lateral ligament in his knee.

Previously in 2016 De Bruyne had sustained a knee injury which had forced him to remain on the bench for nine weeks.

The club will carry out further tests in their own facilities and will later send the player to Dr Ramon Cugat in Barcelona, who treats most of City’s injured players.

The 27-year-old Belgian midfielder had been crucial in City’s record-breaking 2017-18 campaign and any serious injury will definitely hamper City’s hopes of defending the Premier League title.

City have failed to sign a new midfielder in this transfer window, and if De Bruyne is forced to be benched for a longer period of time, City would have to rely on the services of David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden as alternative options.
