Parthiv Reveals RCB’s Plans To Stop Dhoni In Last Ball

IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore have suddenly risen from the dead and started winning games. Last night they clinched a last ball thriller against Chennai Super Kings by just a solitary run.

After winning a high-scoring game against Kolkata Knight Riders, they survived a massive MS Dhoni-scare. This all happened in the last ball when a direct hit from Parthiv Patel caught Shardul Thakur short of his crease.

Needing 26 off the last over, many thought RCB had won the game. But Dhoni had other ideas and took Umesh Yadav to the cleaners in the first five balls. He brought the equation down to two runs from the final delivery.

Now everyone thought that CSK would definitely win as Dhoni was on strike. However there was another twist as Umesh bowled a slower delivery and Dhoni completely missed it.

However he tried to steal a bye and take the game to the super over. But RCB wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel was alert and kept his calm. He affected a direct hit as Shardul failed to make the crease by 1 inch and RCB won the game by 1 run.

Parthiv reveals the plans of last ball

While speaking to the press conference, Parthiv revealed the plans to stop Dhoni in the last ball. He also said that they wanted Dhoni to go to the off-side and so Umesh bowled a slower delivery outside off-stump.

“We honestly wanted him (Dhoni) to hit through the off-side on the shorter side of the ground. If he had hit it on the leg-side, there were two runs because I don’t think the way he runs, there was any chance of stopping those two,” he said at the post-match press conference.

Parthiv also added that he didn’t expect Mahi to miss the ball and was surprised when he did that. “So we wanted (Umesh) to bowl slower and outside the off-stump and surprisingly he missed it. I wasn’t expecting him to miss it but surprisingly he missed it,” the Man of the Match of the game added.

Parthiv had one of the best games both with the bat and gloves. With the bat he slammed a 37-ball 53 and constructed his team’s innings. Behind the stumps, he took a brilliant catch to dismiss Dwayne Bravo in the 19th over. At the end he affected that game-changing direct run-out too.
