April 10, 2018 is the date which MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings will never forget. It was the match between KKR and CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, popularly known as Chepauk.
This is because KKR’s Andre Russell unleashed his inner hulk that day. The right-handed Caribbean star scored a blistering 88 from just 36 deliveries. His knock consisted of just one boundary and 11 sixes.
Dre Russ’ innings took KKR to a staggering total of 202 in 20 overs. However CSK still won the game by 5 wickets and with one ball to go. But Dre Russ’ power hitting is still etched in the minds of Dhoni and CSK.

MSD praises Russell’s power hitting
Recently in the documentary ‘Roar of the Lion’, Dhoni praised Russell’s brutal power-hitting. The 37-year-old was quoted saying, “Kaun aisa banda hai jo itna 6 maarta hai?” (who else smashes those many sixes?)”
In that match, Russell had come after the 5th wicket had fell for 89 runs in 10 overs. He then partnered with skipper Dinesh Karthik and scored a 76-run partnership. Karthik got the best seat in the house to witness Russell’s carnage. Dhoni, who was behind the stumps, was concerned seeing Muscle Russell hitting every ball with authority.
Meanwhile KKR’s official Twitter handle was impressed with Dhoni’s words of praise. They mentioned that if Dhoni is praising someone it means that he is doing a great job. Moreover they also shared the excitement regarding the clash of the two table-toppers.
