There is a huge buzz recently around Hotstar’s new documentary. The new story involves former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. The documentary is named ‘Roar of the Lion’ which revolves around Dhoni’s life. The show will also feature exclusive interviews.

MS Dhoni is the undoubtedly the most decorated and successful Indian captain. In the longest format, he guided his team to the top rank. Apart from that he won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ICC World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.

Apart from successfully serving his country, Dhoni is also a successful IPL captain. He was purchased by Chennai Super Kings in 2008 as then-most expensive player. He led the team to three titles in 2010, 2011 and 2018.

CSK’s hard times and comeback story

CSK was experiencing a wonderful time until they were accused of match-fixing. It was found that in IPL 2013, three players from Rajasthan Royals and CSK officials were involved in match-fixing.

Even Dhoni’s name also came and he was interrogated for a long time. But fortunately he came out unscathed. BCCI and governing council of IPL decided to ban the two franchises for two years.

As a result in the next auction Dhoni was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants for the year 2016 and 2017. Dhoni led the team in 2016 but unfortunately they finished near the bottom of the league.

As a result he was removed from captaincy the next year and Steve Smith was appointed captain. Smith led the team to the finals in 2017 where they lost to Mumbai Indians by 1 run.

The bans from both the teams were lifted in IPL 2018. In the auction, CSK retained MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. They built a team mixed with experience and youth. The ending was a fairytale comeback as CSK defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final to win the trophy for the third time.
