One Brave Change RCB Could Make To Win KXIP Match

IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore is in a dire state currently. They have lost all their first six games. They will now face Kings XI Punjab and are hoping to make a turnaround.

If RCB loses this game too, they will be the first team to lose all the matches in the first half of the tournament. RCB already has some dubious record in IPL. Today they will play in the den of KXIP, i.e. at the Mohali.

On the other hand KXIP are coming from a thrilling game against Mumbai Indians. They were in control of the game in the 30 overs until Kieron Pollard came and changed the equation.

However KXIP are confident as they had a decent outing so far in the season. The form of opener KL Rahul is as huge boost for them. On the other hand RCB’s main reason for last game’s downfall is that they made a lot of changes.

Moreover RCB’s bowlers have been way below par in the tournament so far. South African pacer Dale Steyn has been announced as replacement to injured Nathan Coulter-Nile. Steyn might play the game instead of Kiwi pacer Tim Southee.

Will RCB make the bold change?

Another bold change RCB can do is to bring Washington Sundar in place of Pawan Negi. Sundar has been on the bench since the start of the tournament. Along with the ball, left-hander Sundar can contribute with the bat too.

Sundar can be effective against Chris Gayle, as he has a weakness against off-spinners which is evident from the previous seasons. Previously CSK skipper Dhoni used Ashwin to counter the threats posed by Gayle.

If Washington can wreak havoc during the initial powerplay overs, then the fragile middle order of KXIP will be exposed. This could be a huge advantage for RCB. But all these could be possible if only RCB makes the bold move and start with the Indian off-spinner.
