The controversy regarding Hardik Pandya’s comments is still going on. Pandya had made some sexist comments in the popular TV show Koffee With Karan. Since then the stakeholders of the situation are having anxious days.
Both Pandya and KL Rahul, who also attended the show, were handed an indefinite suspension. The judiciary haven’t yet taken up the case. This means that the future of the two players remains totally uncertain for now.
Moreover the uncertainty also looms over the teams they are associated with. Along with the national team, the IPL franchises will also have to worry regarding the availability of these players.

Pandya is Mumbai Indians’ vital member
Among all the franchises, three-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have to worry the most. This is because Pandya was a crucial member for them in the T20 tournament.
Therefore it won’t be much surprising if they want the all-rounder from Baroda on the field at the earliest. The 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just two months away. As a result MI would now be most restless than ever.
Pandya has played 50 games in the IPL so far. In those matches he has scored more than 600 runs and has taken 28 wickets. But the vital question still remains. Has MI approached the BCCI to settle the matter quickly?
According to a report from Times of India, the IPL franchise have requested to hasten the investigation process. However Sundar Raman, the CEO (Sports) of Reliance Industries, have denied any such reports.
He said in an interview to TOI, “MI has nothing to do with this.” On the other hand Amitabh Choudhary, the secretary of BCCI, was not available for his views.
Progress regarding the issue
Since the episode was aired, a lot of hatred and outrage was poured from all over the world. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) have banned the cricketers.
Both Pandya and Rahul were flown back home in the mid of the Australian tour. They missed the ODI series against the Aussies and will now miss the New Zealand tour. The duo later apologized to everyone regarding the matter.
Recently the CoA have asked the Supreme Court to appoint an Ombudsman to look into the matter. But the case got delayed. It will now be seen what punishment does the duo get.
If a prolonged suspension or ban is imposed, both of them will miss the IPL and the World Cup. If the receive a lesser punishment, they would return to the ground sooner.
