One of the most exciting teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is Kings XI Punjab. The franchise is co-owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta. They haven’t yet won a trophy till date, but they came close and ended up runners in the 2014 season.
Ahead of the 2019 IPL auction, the franchise has the highest amount left in their purse with Rs 36.20 crores. This proves that they will go after the most sought players during the auction.
The team boasts of players like KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Andrew Tye, David Miller and the Afghanistan sensation Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Indian ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will once again lead the squad.

Choices of players on KXIP’s radar
Recently the franchise have released their choices of 11 players who are in their radar. The team has 15 slots available to fill which includes four overseas players.
The list which is released includes explosive Kiwi opener Brendon McCullum. The explosive batsman has 9,620 runs in T20 format with a strike rate of 137.21. As a result he will definitely be one of the hottest buys in the auction.
Shimron Hetmyer will be another player who will be considered by Punjab. The Caribbean hard hitter recently performed well in the series against India. With the middle-order under-performing, Hetmyer’s inclusion can bring a change.
Surprisingly all-rounder Axar Patel also features in the list. He can be a strategic buy for the franchise. The franchise might also bring back Wriddhiman Saha back in their squad.
The wicketkeeper-batsman from Bengal scored a century in the 2014 final, but unfortunately it ended up in a losing cause. Jaydev Unadkat, who was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 11.5 crores in the previous auction, has been released. He too features in the list.
Here is the entire list:
Brendon McCullum, Wriddhiman Saha, Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Shivam Dubey, Jaydev Unadkat, Anmolpreet Singh, Tanmay Mishra, Harsh Tyagi, Kuldeep Sen, Diwesh Pathania.
