The third ODI between India and Australia in Ranchi will be remembered for a heartwarming reason. This is because the Men in Blue decided to step on the field by wearing camouflaged military caps.

The idea of this was given by veteran MS Dhoni, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army. As a result Dhoni himself distributed the camouflaged military caps to the whole team. Skipper Virat Kohli also announced that the match fees will be donated to the National Defence Fund (NDF).

This heartfelt step was taken to pay tribute to the martyred CRPF personnel in the Pulwama attack. The cowardly terrorist attack took place on 14th February in Pulwama region of Kashmir. Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad was responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile the decision of wearing camouflaged military caps didn’t go down well with Pakistan. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan wants ICC to take action against India. As a result In an interview to the Pakistan media, Qureshi said:

The world saw that the Indian cricket team wore military caps instead of their own, did ICC not see this? We think that it is the ICC’s responsibility to take notice of this without the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) bringing it up.

Fawad Chaudhry, the Information Minister, shared his concerns through a tweet. He wrote, “It’s just not Cricket. And if the Indian team will not be stopped, Pak cricket team should wear black bands to remind The World about Indian atrocities in Kashmir.”

The relation between India and Pakistan has always been bitter. Now the Pulwama incident has soured it even more. The situation has deteriorated so much that many people want ICC to ban Pakistan from World Cup 2019. Both India and Pakistan are scheduled to face on June 16, Sunday at the Old Trafford in Manchester.
