5 Players From 2015 WC Who Are Not Selected In 2019

BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad announced the Indian squad for 2019 World Cup on April 15. Although the team looks quite strong yet there are questions asked regarding some selections.

One of them is the ousting of Rishabh Pant, who many thought would make the cut. The management went for more-experienced Dinesh Karthik as backup wicketkeeper. Another controversial decision is to leave out Ambati Rayudu, who almost looked certain for the No. 4 spot.

Since the 2015 WC, many years have passed. For some cricketers these years have fruitful while for some it has been painful. There are some players who despite being part of 2015 WC were not selected in the upcoming edition.

The left-handed all-rounder played one of the greatest cameos in the 2011 WC. In the 2015 WC, Raina was expected to play a ‘Yuvraj Singh kind of role’. but unfortunately he failed to do that and his performance was underwhelming.

It is that moment that the end of IPL legend began. After the 2015 WC, Raina struggled to get runs. As a result he was dropped from the team. Later he was called back for the role of No. 4 batsman, but failed yet again.

His international appearances started to lessen as he only played during the IPL. Raina last played an ODI game in July 2018 against England. He is currently playing in IPL 2019 for Chennai Super Kings.
