5. Vijay Shankar
The all-rounder was trolled for playing four dot balls in the 18th over of the Nidahas Trophy final. Later he was called back after Hardik Pandya was suspended because of his controversial comments on television show.
Shankar made good use of that precious opportunity. He impressed both with his bat and ball. He showed that he can stitch partnerships and can hit big shots as well. Because of his all-round abilities, he was preferred for the No. 4 position.
Apart from that Rayudu’s poor form and inconsistency might also have given him the edge. Although he is new to international cricket and has played only 9 ODIs, he can play a key role and repay the faith of the selectors.
