Jaffer has been playing in domestic cricket for so long and is considered a legend in domestic circuit. He has won all the Ranji finals he has played in. Moreover he is only cricketer to score 1000+ runs in Ranji season twice.

The 40-year-old cricketer is still playing domestic cricket and is the first to score 11,000 runs in Ranji. However after playing his first international Test in early 2000, Jaffer was in and out of the team.

He even scored five Test centuries which included two double-centuries. However at that Sehwag was dominating Indian cricket. He was totally endorsing an aggressive brand of the game. Moreover the team had many capable openers and middle-order batsman. As a result even a player of Jaffer’s calibre, failed to get into the Indian side.
