For the first time in seven years, IPL franchise Delhi Capitals have qualified for the playoffs. They will play their last league game against Rajasthan Royals. They will hope to win it and finish in the top two to have extra shot at final.

One of the major reasons of DC’s success is the Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada. He had taken 25 wickets from 12 games and is currently the holder of the Purple Cap. However Rabada has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2019.

Rabada missed the game against Chennai Super Kings after he complained a pain in the back. As a result of precautionary reasons, Cricket South Africa (CSA) have called back Rabada.

“It is indeed very hard for me to leave the Delhi Capitals at this stage of the tournament. But with the World Cup just a month away, a collective decision has been made for me in this regard. It’s been a tremendous season for me with the Delhi Capitals, both on and off the field, and I truly believe that our team can win the trophy,” Rabada was quoted as saying by Cricket Next.

DC head coach Ricky Ponting was also disappointed regarding Rabada’s ruling out. However Ponting is confident that the rest of the team will step up and contribute in the absence of the star pacer.

“It’s unfortunate that Rabada is having to leave us at this stage of the tournament. But I have full confidence in our team, and I’m sure each and every member of this unit will step up to the occasion,” Ponting said.
