Indian Superstars To Be Rested For Australia Series

Recently India toured Australia and won their maiden Test and ODI series victory. Now a reciprocating Australia series will be played in India from February 24. The Australia series will consist of two T20Is and five ODIs.

While Aaron Finch will lead the Kangaroos, the Men in Blue haven’t named their squads yet. After their gruelling tour Down Under since November, BCCI is likely to rest some senior members of the team.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli took a break in midst of the limited overs New Zealand tour. Rohit Sharma led the brigade against the Kiwis. Now he could be sent to a break in the upcoming Australia series.

Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane hasn’t played an ODI since February 2018. According to reports in the Hindu, he might make a comeback. KL Rahul might also make a comeback since his controversial television show. Hardik Pandya, who was also part of that show, has already made his return.

Australia series will be acid test for Karthik and Pant

Both Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant are in contention for a place in the World Cup squad. This series will prove to be an acid test for both of them.

Karthik has already made a name for himself as a finisher in the team. On the other hand Pant also rose up the ranks on the back of his batting skills. MS Dhoni’s place in the squad is almost certain. As a result the contest will now be between these two promising players.

Pacer Jasprit Bumrah can also be rested for the series. He had a sensational Test series in Australia, where he took 21 wickets and became joint highest wicket-taker with Nathan Lyon.

Since then he was rested for the limited-overs tour against Australia and New Zealand. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami shouldered a lot of responsibility recently and hence they might also be rested.
