King Kohli is one such batsman who gets good reception on almost all the cricket stadiums of the world. However in the past things weren’t the same, especially in his very own country.

The first instance happened when Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore against Mumbai Indians in 2013. Kohli’s direct throw from the covers ran out Mumbai’s Ambati Rayudu. The batsman could have made his ground, but his bat was in the air as he collided with bowler Vinay Kumar.

Kohli didn’t call back Rayudu and as a result the chants of “Cheater Kohli” was heard in the crowd. After the game, Kohli said that he was a bit amused with the reception. “I don’t know what is wrong with people in this venue. It feels a bit weird because at the end of the day you play for India and you don’t come here to be hated,” said Kohli.

Later in 2014, the crowd greeted Kohli with chants of “Anushka”. Both Kohli and the Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was then in a relationship which later turned into marriage in 2017. In the 2014 game, there was an altercation between Mitchell Starc and Kieron Pollard as well.
