3 Reasons Why India Might Not Win World Cup 2019

3. Failing to score quickly in middle overs

It is very important for a team to maintain a healthy run rate in the middle overs, be it batting first or chasing a target. The top three have been aggressively setting up the innings, but the scoring rate in the middle overs have been unimpressive.

Both Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni have failed to make the most of the middle overs. Rayudu in particular has been criticized often for his slow scoring rate. This was very evident in the second ODI against New Zealand.

India were in a good position to score above 350. But due to slow run-rate in the middle overs, they could only post 324 runs. In English pitches it would be hard for the openers to play the new ball. So it would be important to make quick runs in the middle overs.
