Before the start of IPL 2019, defending champions were jolted with the injury to pacer Lungi Ngidi. The South African bowler played a huge role in CSK’s title win last year.
Ngidi was the only express pacer in the side and after his ruling out, everyone was keeping an eye on his replacement. Recently reports revealed that CSK has decided to go for Kiwi all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn.
Kuggeleijn has recently made his international debut. Most important of all is that he will be available throughout the IPL season. The New Zealand cricket board has allowed its players for the entire IPL before the World Cup unlike other boards.

Is Kuggeleijn a smart choice?
This seems to be a smart choice for the defending champions as Scott can bat and can tonk the ball a fair way. Moreover he is a decent death over bowler where the team is currently lacking.
The 27-year-old has played 75 T20s where he has picked 67 wickets at an economy of 8.56. With the bat he has scored 454 runs at a strike rate of close to 130. It will be interesting to see if Dhoni picks Kuggeleijn straightaway when he arrives.
On the other hand reports have suggested that there will be no replacements for David Willey. This is because he opted out for personal reasons. Willey first delayed his arrival and then cancelled it altogether due to the birth of his second child.
