The cricketing fraternity has once again showed a beautiful gesture towards the victims of Pulwama attack. IPL’s defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have decided to donate season opener money to them.
CSK’s season opener match is against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The ticket proceeds will go to the families of Pulwama martyrs. Ever since the ghastly terror attack took place, India’s cricketing fraternity have showed their solidarity.
Earlier this month the Indian team donned camouflaged caps in Ranchi ODI against Australia. Previously BCCI announced that there will be no opening ceremony in this year’s IPL. Instead a part of the budget will be donated to the families. According to reports the sum to be donated by BCCI is INR 20 crores.
Recently another IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab donated Rs 5 lakhs to the families of 5 CRPF martyred soldiers. Meanwhile it is decided that military bands will perform at MA Chidambaram Stadium during the opening fixture.

CSK eye strong start
On behalf of CSK, their team director Rakesh Singh announced skipper MS Dhoni will present the cheque. “Our captain MS Dhoni, who is honorary lieutenant colonel of the Indian territorial army, will present the cheque,” Rakesh said to Sportstar. The tickets got sold within hours after the sale started.
CSK will hope to continue their good performance from the previous season. Last year they won the trophy against all odds. On the other hand RCB will be looking to start well after finishing sixth last season.
