7th December 2018 – Cricketing Trends On Social Media

The tweets all around the day revolved on various events. New Zealand won the third Test of the series against Pakistan and won the series 2-1.

The Test was played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and the Kiwis won it by 123 runs. This is the first time since 1969, which means after a long period of 49 years, New Zealand won a Test series on Pakistan soil.

Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson scored his 19th century during the second innings. He was named the Man of the Match which garnered praises from Indian cricketer VVS Laxman and Deep Dasgupta.

Only Pakistan’s Babar Azam scored a half-century in their pursuit of a target of 280. The pathetic display of Pakistan’s batting disheartened former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated Yasir Shah for becoming the fastest bowler to take 200 Test wickets. Harbhajan Singh shared a picture with retired cricketer Mohammad Kaif.

Australian batsman Joe Burns expressed his excitement to play for Lancashire in England’s domestic cricket. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had a gala time with wife Ummey Ahmed Shishir and daughter Alaina.

Australia and India are currently playing the first Test at Adelaide Oval, where the hosts are trailing by 59 runs in their first innings. Cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra analysed the day’s play.

Vinod Kambli lauded the Indian bowlers, especially Ravi Ashwin, who picked up three crucial wickets at the start of Australia’s innings. Michael Clarke appreciated Travis Head for scoring a well-fought 61 from 149 balls.
