Today’s cricketing trends mainly revolved around second day’s play between Australia and India at Perth. Australia were bundled for 326 early in the morning.
India’s struggle with the openers remained as they were at 8/2 at one stage. Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara patiently rebuild the innings. Later Rahane joined forces with the skipper and they both remained at the end.
Virat is batting on 82 and is inching towards another century. Rahane remained unbeaten on 51 as India end the day with 172/3 and trail the Aussies by 154 runs.
Many felt that the second new ball will help the hosts. They also praised Virat Kohli for showing composure under tough situation. Rahane was also hailed for his support to the skipper as they both took the pressure off the visitors.
On the other side, India and Sri Lanka played an intense final of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Sri Lanka posted a total of 270 batting first. At one point India were down at 127/6.
Shams Mulani and skipper Jayant Yadav added 107 runs for the seventh wicket. But both of them lost their wickets in the 47th over and Sri Lanka saw an opportunity. But Atit Sheth batted gamely only to leave three runs adrift of the victory in the end.
Here are the tweets of the day:
1. Deep thoughts
Team under pressure, Virat does it again, have come to expect that from him. Another gem of a knock but how good was Ajinkya, getting runs in the 1st Test seems to have made a huge difference. Need them both to carry on, evenly poised this one #AUSvsIND
