Shimron Hetmyer Thanks RCB for Picking Him in Auction

Shimron Hetmyer, the big-hitter of the Windies thanked Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for buying him. Considering the form he was in recently, there were expectations that he would rake up huge price.

As a result five teams started the bidding war. But it was RCB who came out victorious and purchased Hetmyer for INR 4.20 crores.

Hetmyer had a brilliant season in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) this year. However he failed to impress in the T20I series against India. But that didn’t stop him from grabbing the eyes of the franchise owners.

Hetmyer has got the ability to clear the boundaries with ease. Moreover he is an agile player on the field and is very accurate with his throws.

The inclusion of the power-hitter to the RCB squad could be a very good one. Their batting has always been dependent on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Despite several trials, they couldn’t find the appropriate batsman for the middle order.

The inclusion of Hetmyer can be the solution to all their problems. The Windies batsman doesn’t take much time to settle and is equally good against the spinners. He could possibly take up the role of a finisher.

Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel will open the batting, while they will be followed by AB de Villiers. An uncapped Indian might be tried at number four.

Hetmyer will come at number five and he will be followed by Marcus Stoinis. This would provide the much needed strength in the death overs.

Most probably it was the dream for the Caribbean to play in a grand league such as IPL. After the auction he instantly shared his happiness on Instagram and thanked RCB for picking him up.

“Thanks to the guys @royalchallengersbangalore for picking me to represent them in the 2019 edition of IPL…Looking forward to seeing you guys #playbold,” he wrote in his story.
