5 Players Who Can Be Top Wicket-Takers In IPL 2019

The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin soon on March 23. The recent auction in the last month saw the franchises opting for a number of bowlers.

The cash-rich league is mainly dominated by batsmen. But everyone knows that the tournament cannot be won without decent bowlers. The bowlers in the IPL have evolved on a great scale.

Andrew Tye, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar are examples of that. This year’s IPL will be very interesting as the World Cup will begin right after the IPL ends.

This is why many key players would be rested by their respective boards. As a result the young players will have to deliver in this crunch situation. This would give him huge opportunities to become this year’s leading wicket-takers.

5. Varun Chakravarthy (Kings XI Punjab)

Varun was the surprise package in the auction of IPL 2019. Kings XI Punjab purchased him for a whooping Rs 8.4 Crores. The mystery spinner came under the radar because of his performance in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

He finished the last season of TNPL with 9 wickets at an economy of 4.92. He also had a dot-ball percentage of 52%. Previously Varun was a net-bowler in the camps of Kolkata Knight Riders.

As a result he had a fair amount of experience of bowling to the top international batsmen. Just like Sunil Narine in 2012, Varun can be a surprise package this season. He will give a tough fight to other bowlers for the Purple Cap.
