5 Big Money Players Who Failed Back-to-back In IPL

4. Ben Stokes

The English all-rounder was purchased by Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017 for a whooping INR 14.5 crores. He repaid his price by winning the Most Valuable Player award. Seeing this RR went all out andd secured him for INR 12.5 crores next season.

However he failed poorly as he scored just 196 runs and took 8 wickets. This left a huge hole in the middle order. He hasn’t performed well for England too but his stature as best all-rounder has kept RR interested in him. So far in 5 games, he has scored just 76 runs and has been very expensive with the ball.

5. Dinesh Karthik

Currently DK is doing well as the skipper of KKR. But in the past he found it very difficult to adjust with the big money tag. In 2014, DD paid him INR 12.5 crores and DK could only score 325 runs at an average of less than 25.

In the next auction RCB bought him for INR 10.5 crores. At that time he was the second best wicket-keeper of India. This is why franchises were eager to pay him that much money. However he had the worst IPL as he scored 141 in 16 games and as a result RCB showed him the exit doors.
