2. Chris Gayle (Kings XI Punjab)
When the Universe Boss had a poor outing with Royal Challengers Bangalore, many thought his strength is finished. Even RCB thought that too and they parted ways. In the 2018 auction he almost went unsold.
But Kings XI Punjab bought him at the dying moments and Gayle repaid their faith with his bat. This season the Caribbean star looks more dangerous. Recently he was smashing everything out of the park in the ODI series against England.
He won the Man of the Series award there too. Born on 21 September 1979, the 39-year-old Gayle announced his retirement after the 2019 World Cup. But the way he is batting now, he might have to reconsider his plans.
In the current IPL season, he started excellently as he scored 79 against Rajasthan Royals. He didn’t have a good second match against Kolkata Knight Riders as he scored just 20. However keeping in mind the length of the tournament, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gayle bags the Orange Cap this year.
