4. Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill’s career turned around after the 2018 ICC U19 World Cup winning campaign. The year 2019 might be his breakthrough year. He was called to New Zealand as the replacement to skipper Virat Kohli.
Kohli was given rest due to the huge workload management. Over the years, both in IPL and U19, Gill has proved that he is an adaptive No. 4 batsman. But with Ambati Rayudu getting to form at the right time, Gill’s chances of featuring in No. 4 spot looks bleak.
However as KL Rahul’s form took a dip in recent times, the management might consider Gill as a short-term reserve opener. It won’t be surprise if Shubman Gill makes it to the 15-man squad to England after the IPL.
