Venue Of Playoffs And Final Of IPL 2019 Revealed

The 2019 edition of IPL is going on in its full course and is already in its midway. Before the tournament started there were speculations about where the final will be hosted.

Currently reports have revealed that Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will host the final. The final of the cash-rich tournament will be played on May 12, Sunday.

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNPA) wasn’t given permission to open I, J and K stands at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. This stadium is popularly known as Chepauk.

On the contrary, Chepauk has been given the charge of hosting the Qualifier 1. The Eliminator and the Qualifier 2 matches will be hosted at Vizag as per the reports from Times of India.

Playoffs and final in winner and runners-up venue

As per the tradition of IPL, the playoffs and the final are arranged in the stadiums of previous year’s winner and runners-up. As a result Chennai and Hyderabad were expected the host the matches.

In the previous year, Chennai Super Kings won the IPL while Sunrisers Hyderabad were the runners-up. However BCCI was forced to bring in Vizag’s name as well.

Previously it was expected that Hyderabad would host the Eliminator and Qualifier 2. But due to local elections, which was scheduled on May 6, 10 and 14, it wasn’t possible. This is because the police wouldn’t be able to manage adequate security arrangements.

Previously BCCI had hinted that the final might be shifted from Chennai. “We will have discussions with TNCA as we don’t want to deprive CSK their right of playing at home. But three empty stands is an issue. Hyderabad and Bangalore are the two standby venues for two playoffs, Eliminator and final,” the official was quoted as saying.
