The mega-tournament of 2019, the ICC World Cup, is just months away. There is quite a buzz regarding the tourney which will be played in England and Wales. The Men in Blue are in good form in ODIs.

They have won almost all ODI series in three years, except one in England and the recent one against Australia. Meanwhile India has still not solved their long-standing problem of No. 4 batsman.

The management has used 11 players so far. Among them only Ambati Rayudu stood but recently he has shown huge inconsistencies. In 2019 he has scored 245 in 9 matches with an average of 35.00 and strike rate of 76.56.

The 33-year-old Hyderabad begins his innings with some dot balls. The moment he tries to release the pressure, he finds himself in the dressing room. With no more ODIs left before World Cup, India has a serious problem at hand.

The Tamil Nadu all-rounder surely cashed on Hardik Pandya’s injury and impressed the selectors. He debuted against Australia earlier this year and played a few ODIs thereafter.

With the bat Vijay scored 45 and 46 in back-to-back ODIs. He lifted India from a dire state in both the games and put the game back on track. Both the times he was unfortunately run-out and didn’t get the opportunity to carry on.

With the ball he is quite economical and is a match-winner. Recently he defended 11 overs in the final over against Australia. In that match he took the final two wickets in three balls to end the Aussie innings. Thus the 28-year-old can be a good No. 4 bat who can chip in with some useful overs.
