Sreesanth Proud With India’s Win Over Australia

Banned cricketer S Sreesanth have been trying his trade in the entertainment industry currently. He narrowly lost from winning the Bigg Boss 12 title. However he never fails to make the headlines.

Sreesanth was handed lifetime ban by BCCI after a spot-fixing scandal in the IPL in 2013. After clearing his name in court, the fast bowler started making regular appearances on TV. He also recently acted in a film.

The soon to turn 36 years, Sreesanth also expressed his desire to work with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. He said that it is a milestone in his TV and acting career.

Sreesanth was the member of two World Cup winning squads in 2007 and 2011. Recently he was asked to express his views over India’s 2-1 Test series victory Down Under.

Sreesanth said that as a former cricketer, it is one of his proudest moments. He also congratulated Parthiv Patel. The wicketkeeper was the only player from the recent Test squad to play the 2003-04 series, under then-captain Sourav Ganguly, against Australia.

“Very well done Parthiv Patel. Because I remember Parthiv is senior when comes to cricket. Parthiv was part of a lot series. Much before I played, they played a series under Sourav Ganguly and we almost won the series, with the best team ever played then (Australia) with Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and all that. So being in this best generation team and winning a series in Australia was a dream come true,” Sreesanth said to Pinkvilla.

Parthiv was sent as a backup wicketkeeper

However Parthiv didn’t play a single game in the recent tour. This is because the main wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant played in style. Pant became the second highest run-scorer in the series behind fellow teammate Cheteshwar Puajara.

Parthiv was just 18 years old during the 2003-04 tour. India drew the series 1-1 with Australia in that tour. Patel was criticized heavily during that four-match Test series. He missed a chance to stump Steve Waugh, who was playing his last Test. Moreover he sledged Waugh who gave a befitting reply.

“Very proud to say that I used to play a game called cricket which they have won. So I am very happy that being a cricket fan and being an Indian, it is one of the proudest moment for me,” said the holder of 169 international wickets.
