After the two-match Test series gets over, the Windies will face the Men in Blue for the ODI and T20I series and the Windies cricket board have made a big announcement.

The board has finalized the ODI and T20I squad but surprisingly they have left out two big names from the squad which will play against India.

Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo have not been selected in either of the two squads. The reason is not because of injury but due to other internal reasons.

While Gayle had made himself unavailable for selection as he had decided to sign up for the Afghanistan Premier League, Bravo will not board a flight to India as he need to perform more to make it to the national side again.

The left-handed batsman Chris Gayle recently announced his retirement from List A cricket as he played his last game for Jamaica where he scored a century.

The veteran of 284 ODIs and 103 Tests will however be in contention for the national squad which will travel to England for the World Cup in 2019 as he was part of the squad in the World Cup qualifiers.

Darren Bravo and Kieron Pollard has been called up for national selection because of their recent performances in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League. Darren Bravo will feature in international cricket almost after two years.

“With the 2020 ICC World T20 two years away and the limited amount of T20 Internationals within the next year, the panel believes at this juncture it is time to invest in the young players that have emerged over the last two years from Windies A and B teams, along with 2018 CPL,” Courtney Browne, Chairman of the national selection panel, said as quoted by Times Now.

While Jason Holder will captain the Windies side in the five-match ODI series, the helm for the team in the T20Is is given to Carlos Brathwaite.
