Kolkata Kinght Riders have announced their new signing England all-rounder Tom Curran as the replacement for injured Mitchell Starc for the upcoming 11th season of Indian Premier League.
VIVO IPL 2018: England and Surrey pacer has been added to KKR’s squad Tom Curran.
The 23-year-old pacer joined the two time IPL winner for his base price of 1 cr. This will be the very first outing for the young pacer in the Indian premier league. After being overlooked in the January auction KKR franchise have to go back to the market to purchased Tom Curran as their prime pacer Mitchell Starc suffered ‘tibial bone stress’ in his right leg.
“I’m thrilled and excited to be joining Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL,” Curran was quoted by the Surrey website. “I know from chatting to other players I can learn a lot from being in that environment, skills that I hope will benefit Surrey and my chances of representing England again this year and if selected, for next year’s World Cup.”
Tom Curran has a fine performer in the shorter format since his debut for Surrey back in 2014. He has picked up 53 wickets in merely 51 T20 games with averaging just over 27 and with an economy of 8.25.
Recently Curran made his debut for England in all three formats and also picks up one Man of the Match for his brilliant performance as he picked up 5/35.
