Virushka Sacrifices Business Class Seats For Pacers

“A captain is as good as his team.”

This is a well known notion in cricket and skipper Virat Kohli perfectly understands the meaning of it. Kohli is always seen standing beside his teammates in good as well as bad times.

After the tiring Test win at Adelaide Oval, Kohli didn’t mince his words while praising his bowlers. He praised at length his four-pronged bowling attack who worked tirelessly in the heat to pick 20 Aussie wickets.

However he has now set up an example with his actions. Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma gave up their business class seats to the Indian pacers. They did this kind action so that the pacers could relax while travelling from Adelaide to Perth.

Team India swayed from their five-bowler theory in the Adelaide match. They went into the match with four pace bowlers and a spinner. As a result there was a huge workload for all the Indian bowlers.

In total the Indians had to bowl 218.3 overs while the part-time bowler bowled only eight overs. Ashwin shared the bulk of the workload as he send down a massive 86.5 overs. The other three pacers bowled a combined effort of remaining 132 overs, which is again a huge number.

Even Indian head coach Ravi Shastri acknowledged their efforts and spoke about their stress levels. He said that they need to rest well ahead of the Perth Test and there will be no compulsory net sessions for them.

Michael Vaughan tweeted the entire incident

Vaughan witnessed the kind gesture from Mr. and Mrs. Kohli and swiftly took to Twitter to share the incident. However he also added that the incident is a danger sign for Australia. This is because the bowlers will be fresh and ready to go for the Perth Test which begins from Friday.

It was indeed a kind gesture from Kohli and Anushka. These are the small things which grows the bonding in the team and keeps the dressing room buzzing.

No wonder this small gesture would lift Kohli ‘s respect in the eyes of his team members. He is indeed following in the footsteps of his predecessor and former skipper MS Dhoni. Even Mahi used to do the same during his captaincy as he helped the bowlers, who toiled hard, relax.
