India will soon be playing a five-match Test series against England and the first Test will get underway from August 1 at Edgbaston, Birmingham, and is going to be an exciting series as both teams will fight to prove their supremacy.
Cricket news: These players are likely to get selected in the squad for India
India would love to take revenge of their 4-0 and 3-1 thrashing in 2011 and 2014 respectively, and it seems that this Virat Kohli and Co. have a better chance of defeating the Poms at their own backyard.
It is down to the management how they select the squad, which they had failed to do in South Africa earlier. But with the current talent pool, if the management select the proper squad, then they can bring the Investec Trophy to India.
The board has not yet announced the squad but will soon do so. Here we present our prediction of how India’s 17-member squad should look like.
Openers – Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, KL Rahul
India has a predictable opening option as they have three batsmen in the likes of Murali Vijay, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan, who will fight among themselves to secure the two opening slots.
Vijay has been India’s Test specialist and has been very effective in series away from home. But at present he will face tough competition from in-form Rahul and swashbuckling Dhawan.
Both Rahul and Dhawan has been performing for the country irrespective of the format and it would be injustice to leave any of these three batsmen out, but unfortunately the management can only pick two openers.
