MSK Prasad Happy To See Dhoni Scoring Runs

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Ex-Indian Captain did not have the best of him in years of 2017-18.  MSK Prasad, chief of India’s selection panel, and his colleague had to think twice before selecting under performing Mahi.

Dhoni scored only a mere run of 275 in 20 innings he had played. During this time, he had the worst average and strike rate among all. Mahi Bhai was even booed during his ODI knock at Lord’s last year. Now one can understand his position.

On the other hand , the charismatic Rishav Pant was slowing cementing his Wicket-keeper position in the squad. Dinesh Karthik was also showing lots of promise. Kartik’s consistency has proved his mettle. While on the other side, Dhoni is slowing getting faded away.

But Dhoni’s recent performance was very much a surprise to everyone. A surprise that everyone wanted. Mahi bhai made 3 consecutive fifties. He finished the series as India’s top run-getter and became the oldest Indian player to bag the Man of the Series award.

Dhoni’s form has been a big relief for the selectors and MSK Prasad’s latest comments very much prove that.

‘Happy to see Mahi among the runs’ : MSK Prasad

He told to Sportstar :

I am absolutely happy to see Mahi among the runs and winning the Man of the Series award for his batting performance in Australia . I have also always said that he is still the best wicketkeeper in the world. Apart from that, he is hugely experienced and brings a sense of calmness to the team in crunch situations.

The chemistry between Virat and Mahi is only going to help the team in a major event and I can openly say that they have huge respect for each other.

We are very clear about our core group of players. We might only look at certain permutations and combinations against the Aussies at home. Otherwise, we are very clear about our team for the World Cup.
