MS Dhoni has played a total of 146 games so far in the history of IPL and has scored 3299 runs so far averaging at 38.18 but the thing that matters the most in the shorter format of the game 137.98
The player as we all know has proved his excellence at every point of time and has taken Indian cricket to a whole new level, since he has given up his captaincy from every format of the game and even from the IPL it is very much expected that he will focus upon his batting which he really needs to.
MSD has always been class apart from the other players in the world take the example of his batting or his wicket keeping or may it be his captaincy he has always been in the limelight for doing things better for him and the team, he will always be an inspiration for the players in the decades to come
But, despite being freed from the burden of captaincy, Dhoni has somewhat struggled to produce a fine show with the willow in the IPL. This has led to a lot of critics to come down hard on him. Former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly, raised some serious concerns about Dhoni’s batting in the shortest version of the game. “I am not too sure if MS Dhoni is a good T20 player. He is a champion ODI player but when it comes to Twenty20 cricket, in 10 years, he has got one fifty and that’s not the best record,” Ganguly said. Noticeably all of this criticism comes on the back of a poor run of form in the IPL.
However, to question Dhoni’s form so early and that too on the basis of just three matches in the IPL is unjustified.
Since we haven’t seen much from his bat in this season of the IPL but we greatly expect that he will come back strong and will deliver as of what is required from him or what we expect from the giants
