Kohli Praises Dhoni Heavily After Winning Adelaide ODI

The Adelaide ODI was a do-or-die match for the Men in Blue. They had lost the series opener and losing this match would mean losing the ODI series. But it didn’t happen as Kohli scored a century and helped India win while chasing once again.

But apart from Kohli, it was the contribution of veteran MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik which proved vital. Both of them played safely and guided the team home in the last over. Kohli was delighted with Dhoni and termed his knock ‘MS Classic’.

A lot of people had criticized Dhoni for his 96-ball 51 in the series opener. But they forgot the fact that Dhoni came to the crease in the fifth over. At that time India were 3 wickets down for just 4 runs. As a result he had to play according to the situation.

Tonight he came to bat while India was in a good position with 160/3. He proved his mettle once again and scored 55 off 54 deliveries. As a result the Indian captain Kohli was all praise for his predecessor in the post-match presentation.

Dhoni’s inclusion in World Cup shouldn’t be any doubt

Kohli slammed critics who had previously questioned Dhoni’s place in the ODI squad. He said that Dhoni had and will always be an integral part of the team.

When Isa Gupta questioned Kohli about Dhoni, the Indian skipper said:

There is no doubt that he shouldn’t be a part of this team. Tonight was an MS classic. Only he knows what’s going through his mind. He calculates the game so well. He backs himself to hit those big hits. Hats off to him and Dinesh as well.

Kohli didn’t forget to specially mention Dinesh Karthik’s contribution as well. The Nidahas Trophy hero scored 25 off just 14 balls. He made sure that the pressure wasn’t built on Dhoni on the other end.

“He (Karthik) came in and showed the right kind of intent. MS was as composed as ever. We try and help each other (MS and himself). Tonight was special for us,” he added.

The series is all levelled now and will be decider in the final game. The third and the final match will be played on Friday at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
