The Men in Blue have been dealt with a blow ahead of the five-match ODI series against the Windies as their pacer Shardul Thakur has been left out due to injury.
Cricket news: Shardul got injured in his debut Test at Hyderabad against the Windies
Shardul debuted in the second Test against the Windies at Hyderabad and could bowl only 10 deliveries before he sustained an injury and hence could not bowl later in the game.
Thakur had suffered from a right adductor tendon injury. He had previously suffered a groin injury during the league stage of the Asia Cup and was sent home mid-tournament.
The management have decided to replace Thakur with Umesh Yadav, who received his reward after his heroics in the Hyderabad Test.

This would be a great opportunity for Umesh to seal his place in the limited overs format as both regular pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the first couple of matches.
Umesh would be keen to carry on the momentum from the Hyderabad Test where he got to his best bowling figures and also took ten wickets in the game.
The first two ODIs would be captained by Virat Kohli while wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has been axed. Kedhar Jadhav has also been sidelined because of his spate of injuries.
Manish Pandey and Ambati Rayudu would fight among themselves for the much-coveted number four slot. Test regular pacers Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav have been added to the squad while spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav would again try to trouble the visitors as they looked clueless against the spinners in the Tests.
