The Men in Blue have stormed back in the Test series against England after their fabulous win at Trent Bridge and will be looking to level the series in the fourth game at Southampton.
Cricket news: During the third Test, the spinner showed some discomfort while bowling
But their hopes have been heavily dented as their ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have been dealt with an injury and is currently struggling with groin injury.
This has left him doubtful for the fourth Test and final decision will be taken once he starts practising with the team.
According to some reports, Ashwin is currently undergoing treatment and the management is considering Ravindra Jadeja as his alternative.
Even in the Trent Bridge, Ashwin showed discomfort and spent a good length of time outside the field. Thankfully his bowling was not required but the visitors will hope he gets fit soon as he has bowled well so far in the series.
Jadeja might be the obvious candidate unless the management thinks of taking a proper batsman in the middle order in the likes of Karun Nair or Hanuma Vihari. Pacer Umesh Yadav might also be considered if the conditions favour swing bowling.
Jadeja can be a good replacement as he has not played a single match yet and can surprise the home side with his bowling. Moreover he could add firepower down the order with his batting which can make a difference.
