ICC CEO Believes India Will Be Invincible In World Cup

The ICC World Cup is the highest trophy in the history of the sport. Every team wants to get their hands on the glittering sliverware. The next edition of the mega tournament is just less than five months away.

The 2019 World Cup is scheduled to begin from May 30 in England and Wales. This time there will be ten teams participating in the tournament.

Among them eight teams directly qualified for the tournament. Afghanistan and Windies joined them from the qualifying tournament.

In the meantime pundits and critics are scratching their heads to determine the probable winner. ICC CEO David Richardson is also finding it hard to pick a winner.

He believes that Virat Kohli-led India can be invincible in the tournament. India would be very hard to beat in the extravaganza. He was seen in an event where he announced a five-year partnership with Coca Cola. There David said:

It is extremely difficult to pick a winner. Obviously, India is playing really well. England has got their best ODI team in many years. South Africa has also performed. But the progress the Indian team has made in the recent years, it will be exceptionally difficult to beat them.

It will be a thrilling tournament

South Africa will play the first game against hosts England at Kennington Oval in London. India will start their World Cup journey against South Africa at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on 5 June, Wednesday.

In the previous edition, Australia won the tournament as they defeated New Zealand. the 2015 final was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Australia is also the most successful team in the history of the tournament. This is because they have won the title five times. They will play their first game against Afghanistan at the County Ground in Bristol on 1 June, Saturday.
