Gambhir Shuts Former Pakistan Cricketer after He Calls Kohli A Deserter

Both the fans of the cricketing giants India and Pakistan were ecstatic when they got to know that the arch-rivals will be facing at least twice in the Asia Cup.

Cricket news: Gambhir is always known for his straightforward nature and he has proved that again

But when the Indian selectors decided to rest Indian skipper Virat Kohli for the tournament, the decision did not go well with many and former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed was one of them.

Kohli has hurt his back in the recently concluded England series and a rest was absolutely necessary for him. Rohit Sharma was elected the captain in his place and the whole team is looking brighter to lift the Asia Cup once again.

However the media of Pakistan are not looking ready to accept the fact and are constantly commenting on Kohli’s absence from the tournament.

Tanvir Ahmed took a step further and questioned Kohli’s commitment for his country. He said that if Kohli can play against England with an injured back, then he should have also played the Asia Cup.

Ahmed spiced up the argument by calling Kohli a ‘deserter’ as he said that the best batsman of India ran away from his responsibility fearing that he would have to face Pakistan thrice.

“Meri nazar mein Virat Kohli bhaag gaye hain. England ki wo poori series khele. England ki Test series mein unko back ka problem hua, uske baad bhi wo matches khele. Jab ek player apne mulk ke liye England ki series khel sakta hai, toh jab usko pata hai Asia Cup jitna bada event aa raha hai, toh jab wo England series survive kar sakta hai toh Asia Cup bhi survive kar sakta hai. Mere mulk ke matches Pakistan ke khilaaf hone hain, ek baar nahi teen baar, toh aise bhaag jaana,” Tanvir said on ABP News.

(In my view, Virat Kohli has run away. He played the entire Test series in England. He suffered a back problem in the limited-overs series in England. He continued to play despite that. When a player can play a series against England for his country battling a back issue, then he could have managed to play in Asia Cup as well. Kohli knew that India might have to play with Pakistan on three occasions including the final which is why he ran away.)

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir replied back in his own style as he reminded Tanvir of his international career. Gambhir highlighted the fact that Kohli has 35-36 centuries to his name while Tanvir has not even played that amount of international games.

“Virat Kohli has 35-36 centuries to his name. He (Tanvir) doesn’t even have 35 international matches to his name,” he said.

Gambhir is always known for his straightforward and in your face attitude and has again proved that with this reply. Even the Men in Blue proved that on the field that they do not need to trouble Kohli to beat Pakistan as they won the game on Wednesday by eight wickets.
