While many experts feel that he can still improve in the Test format, but when it comes to limited overs format, he is considered as one of the finest batsman of the millennium.
With an average of 58.21, he is currently at the top of the ICC ODI rankings and is 42 points clear of the second placed batsman. However there are few batsmen who can topple him from the helm in the near future.

The 31-year-old batsman is the top contender to replace Virat. Many experts think this could be possible after witnessing his performance in the Asia Cup in UAE.
He led the Indian contingent to their seventh trophy in the tournament’s history. In the process he came to the second position of the ODI rankings with 842 points. Among all the openers, he has the best average since 2013.
From time to time again, the batsman from Mumbai have proved his mettle of performing in the white-ball format. Recently he eclipsed the 7000 runs mark in ODI cricket and is the ninth Indian batsman to do this.
