In today’s game Team England thrashed the home team India at Kanpur and they made a solid start of the series.
Today’s game team England beat team India by 7 wickets, this is Virat Kohli’s first T20 game as a captain, he should have surely wanted an opposite result, England has got the momentum after winning the last ODI at Kolkata, though in the match India was the favorite to win the match but they in that match India lost early wickets, as an Indian right handed batsman KL Rahul threw his wicket very cheaply.
In that match the New skipper Kohli,Dhoni and Raina scored runs ,but all of them are unable to make an impact on the scoreboard, Team India manage to score only 147 runs at the end of their Innings and it always seems small against a team like England,
Sam Billings and Jason Roy both the English openers played a handy knock at the start, but the young ,talented Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal gets both of them in his first over and put back team Indian into the game.
But the English captain and Joe Root played an outstanding Innings and because of them team England won the match with 11 balls left to their Innings.
After the match Root said: “Yeah. Good day. It was a shame to miss the last One-dayer. It is nice to come back here and make an impact. With the ball we kept taking wickets, put them under pressure and not let them have partnerships. Then with the bat, we knew we wanted one big partnership. Not necessarily the prettiest, especially from me. We got the job done. It is great to see them play with such confidence,”
“Obviously, Jason is coming on the back of a good One-day series. I hope he takes the confidence forward for the rest of the series. You would like to think bowling first didn’t matter. It did play a little bit better under lights. There was some variable bounce with the new ball while batting first. In the end a good toss to win. It wasn’t my most fluent knock but Morgs (Morgan) took all the pressure off me,”
Indian skipper accolade about team England after the match and also thinks that English bowlers bowls in the right length and also in the spot and they manage to restrict them, and Kohli also thinks that the seniors should need to take the pressure off from the juniors.
Kohli added: “Yeah certainly, England have played better cricket than us today. We accept that. With the ball, in the field and with the bat, they were precise. Deserving winners at the end of the day. You have to stand up and applaud the opposition when they play well. Today England performed the way we know they can. Credit to their bowlers for bowling hard lengths, they extracted pace and bounce. As I said, they were precise. Explosive start at the top. We pulled things back nicely but we were probably 30-35 runs short on that pitch. There are things we need to address and learn from this game,”
“I have confidence in him (Chahal). Plays with me in RCB. Bowls with the new ball there as well with mid-on and mid-off up. He has the wicket-taking ability and is confident in his skills. He’s the guy who pulled us back in the game. Youngster showing character is always a positive sign. This is a format you need to enjoy and have to play at your intense best. The opposition can upset you at any stage as we have seen in T20 cricket. I think we have played some really good cricket this season and deserve to enjoy these T20s. We have a young side, important for them to enjoy. It’s upto us seniors to take the load off them,”
