Dhoni’s Fitness Report Ahead Of 4th ODI Against NZ

The Men in Blue had to leave their experienced wicketkeeper MS Dhoni in the third ODI due to fitness issues. The veteran player was suffering from a sore hamstring.

However his absence didn’t matter much as India won the game comfortably. Dinesh Karthik played as a replacement. He did a fair job behind the stumps and also scored runs with the willow.

This had definitely boosted the morale of Karthik and he has gained much-needed confidence. But a lot of focus is on Dhoni, as it might be the last year of his illustrious career.

It seems that after missing the previous game, Dhoni is all set to return for the dead rubber. Ahead of the fourth match, he was seen sweating it out in the nets.

The pictures of the net session were posted online on Twitter by BCCI’s official Twitter handle. It will now be interesting to see who makes way for the veteran player. This is because Karthik definitely deserves another chance after his impressive performance in the last game.

There might be a lot of changes for the visitors

According to the hints given by India’s fielding coach R Sridhar, the Men in Blue might ring in significant changes for the game. Sridhar has clearly mentioned that the dead rubber matches are the best to test the strength of the bench.

This means young prodigy Shubman Gill might make his international debut. Dhoni is most likely to return behind the stumps. Since the England tour, it would be the first time that pacer Mohammed Shami might be rested. According to the training sessions, it seems Khaleel Ahmed might replace him.

The Kiwis have also called Jimmy Neesham and Todd Astle in the squad. While Neesham is almost certain to play, Astle might have to wait some more time. This is because of the easy way that the Indians have tackled the spin so far.

Even Tim Southee might also come back, bit his inclusion is still not certain. The Kiwis will be desperate to field in the right team as they look forward to make 3-1 in the five-match ODI series.
