Dhoni’s Current Form Increases India’s World Cup Chances

The former coach of the Indian national cricket team and the current batting coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gary Kirsten, heaps praises over MS Dhoni’s incredible stances with the bat.

Dhoni’s hunger for more success has brought back his incredible consistent form: Kirsten

Gary Kirsten is every Indians favourite coach as he had led the national team to great success from 2008 to 2011, after retiring from the post after handing the 50 overs World Cup title to the national team.

His present IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, has not been performing well in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. But the South African coach is very much pleased with the way his world cup winning team captain MS Dhoni is batting.

Many people, ranging from experts to critics, have questioned Dhoni’s ability as a finisher, and some has even started discussing about his retirement plans.

But Dhoni has answered all the people with his bat so much so that it seems that he is not the current Dhoni, rather he is the one everyone had seen in 2005-06.

His incredible batting, both his power-hitting ability as well as his ability to take his team safely home, has all come back with his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.

In an interview to NDTV, Kirsten talked about the success of the 36-year-old Dhoni. “He just keeps producing and his hunger for performance is amazing. I don’t think he has reinvented anything, he has just got back at his incredible consistent best,” said Kirsten.

Dhoni’s incredible batting has doubled the chances of India to lift the World Cup in 2019. This world cup will be Dhoni’s last and Kohli’s first as a captain. Kohli will definitely want the veteran to finish his glorious career on a high as a world champion.

When asked about India’s chance of lifting the World Cup in England, Kirsten said, “Lots of teams have a chance including India, so it will be an exciting tournament.”
