Dhoni and Gambhir Might Get LS Tickets and Campaign for BJP In 2019

The partnership of World Cup stars MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir was the main reason that India lifted the trophy after a long period of time.

Cricket news: Gambhir might contest the election for LS polls for BJP from New Delhi

According to some reports these two cricketers, who have a huge fan following, might step into a whole new field altogether.

Report from Sunday Guardian Live has confirmed that both the cricketers might be seen campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2019.

Sources from the political party have confirmed this news and has said that the presence of these two high profile cricketers will give a huge boost as well as will increase the value of the party’s campaign.

A senior BJP leader has a way ahead and said that the party is thinking to place Gautam Gambhir as their candidate in the Rajinder Nagar constituency as the present candidate is not well received by the people.

Gambhir has associated himself extensively with some social issues and his work and his image would be the best choice for the political party.

“Reports from the ground about Meenakshi Lekhi are not good. The party leadership has decided that she will not be repeated this time as a candidate from New Delhi. Gautam Gambhir, in most likelihood, will be the party’s candidate from the same seat. He has wide acceptability and is known for his social work. He is a Delhiite and will do his best for the people of Delhi.”

The leader has also confirmed that they are even considering MS Dhoni’s name as a probable candidate from Jharkhand. However as Dhoni is still an active cricketer, it remains a mystery whether he would contest the election or not.

“Both players have wide acceptability, respect and credibility across the country and are regarded as leaders by all sections of society. They are not only leaders from their respective states, but also leaders of the country. Dhoni is currently the captain of the Chennai Super Kings team playing at the IPL and thus has reach and mass base even in the southern parts of India. Both these players joining the party will be an asset for us,” the senior leader was quoted as saying by Sunday Guardian Live.
