Bumrah Might Not Play in The Second Test at Lord’s

India and England are now fighting in the five-match Test series and England are already 1-0 up as they won the Edgbaston Test by 31 runs.

Cricket news: Bumrah is named in the squad for the first three Tests

The second match is scheduled to begin from August 9 at Lord’s. But before the game commences, India’s chances are seriously dented as one of their prime bowlers Jasprit Bumrah might not recover from the injury.

According to reports published in Cricket Next, Bumrah might take more time to gain complete 100 percent fitness.

Bumrah had sustained his injury to the left thumb while playing in the first T20I game against Ireland. Although he is bowling in the nets, yet he might take more time to heal and play in an international game.

The team’s bowling department has already been shortened by the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and without the availability of Bumrah, the bowling will remain the same for the second match also.

While announcing the squad for the first three Tests, BCCI had hoped Bumrah would be available from the second Test.

“Jasprit Bumrah who has been included in the squad will be available for selection from the 2nd Test onwards based on his fitness,” the statement released by BCCI had read.

In the Edgbaston Test, Ravichandran Ashwin was the best bowler from India as he picked up 7 wickets in the game, which left many wondering if India had played another spinner, they might have troubled the Brits more.

Only time will tell if India’s other spinners in the likes of Kuldeep Yadav or Ravindra Jadeja gets a nod for the second Test.

Hardik Pandya’s position in the team is also under threat as he could not fulfil the role of an all-rounder in the match.

If India plays an extra spinner in the game, Umesh Yadav might have to sit out as his performance with the ball was below average in Edgbaston.

Cheteshwar Pujara might be brought back to the squad and will play in the top order in place of Shikhar Dhawan or KL Rahul.
