Former Indian spin legend has always been a leading contender for becoming a coach. Previously he was the coach of the national team and also served as mentor for Mumbai Indians from 2013 to 2015.

In 2019, KXIP also won 6 out of their 14 games and finished 6th in the table. Their inferior run-rate denied them the chance to feature in the playoffs. Their head coach Mike Hesson was dropped and Anil Kumble has been appointed in his place.

Kumble has already shown his smartness in coaching the team. During the trade window, Kumble brought valuable all-rounders in the likes of Krishnappa Gowtham and Jagdeesha Suchith. Kumble will probably make KL Rahul the captain of the franchise.

4. Simon Katich – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Despite having a star-studded squad in almost all the seasons, RCB has failed to win even one IPL trophy. Virat Kohli-led side had done everything to win but they fell short each time. As a result they have decided to let go off their previous coach Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra.

In their place Simon Katich has been appointed the head coach while Mike Hesson is appointed as Director of Cricket Operation. Hesson was previously shortlisted for the job of Indian head coach. This duo has sharp cricketing brains which might be all that RCB needs to win their maiden trophy.
