Every year cricket’s most celebrated franchise T20 league, the Indian Premier League, is played. This time the 13th edition of the tournament will begin from April 2020. All the franchises have already begun their preparations.

The most-awaited mega-auction will take place on 19 December 2019. This auction will be used by all the franchises to fix the loopholes in their squad. But before that all the franchises have already announced their head coach for the upcoming season.

The head coach of each team would play an important role in lifting the hopes for a title win. Along with that they will also have a key role during the auction. Last season Mumbai Indians won the tournament by defeating Chennai Super Kings by one run.

1. Andrew McDonald – Rajasthan Royals

RR had a very average performance during the IPL 2019 season. To change their fortunes around, they have released the previous head coach Paddy Upton. In his place former Aussie all-rounder Andrew McDonald has been appointed.

McDonald had previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. In 11 games, he had scored 123 runs and taken 11 wickets. Later he worked with Team Victoria in the Sheffield Shield and Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.

2. Brendon McCullum – Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR finished 5th during IPL 2019, with only 6 wins from 14 games. This led to the axing of former head coach Jacques Kallis and Simon Katich. Now the management has chosen their former player Brendon McCullum as their new head coach.

McCullum had played for KKR for 5 seasons during his active days. He began his journey with an incredible 158 in the very first match. KKR chief executive Venky Mysore believes that McCullum’s leadership qualities, honesty and aggressive style will change KKR’s fortune.
