Skipper Sangakkara dropped himself against MI in 2012

Former Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara played for now-defunct Deccan Chargers in 2012. He wasn’t having a good season both as batsman and skipper. He had managed only 200 runs at an average of 18.18.
Moreover the team finished second-last, at the eighth position, in the points table. Meanwhile in the match against MI, Sangakkara took a tough call and benched himself at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
In his place Cameron White took over. However the decision didn’t do any good as Deccan Chargers lost by 5 wickets after getting bowled out for 100 runs. Later White praised Sangakkara’s selfless act and said it was done with coach Darren Lehmann’s permission.
