5 Records That Kolkata Knight Riders Hold In IPL

4. Highest successful run chase in IPL final (200 VS Kings XI Punjab in 2014)

It was KKR’s second final and they had the experience of chasing a huge total, which they did in 2012 against Chennai Super Kings. On the other hand it was the first final for Kings XI Punjab.

KKR won the toss and asked KXIP to bat first. They struggled initially but a fantastic century from Wriddhiman Saha and a half-century from Manan Vohra took their total to 199/4.

It was indeed a huge total. Moreover KKR lost the orange-cap holder Robin Uthappa in the very first over. Manish Pandey’s extraordinary innings of 94 off just 50 balls brought the game in KKR’s reach.

Piyush Chawla hit the winning runs as KKR won the game with just three balls to spare. Throughout the game KKR was withing the asking run rate of ten. Hence they were able to pull off such a stiff chase in an IPL final and thus created the record.
